Introduction:

These are a few examples of the type of pictures I enjoy painting.  Some are unfinished and many are photographed under glass, therefore the quality is not quite as good as I would have liked but with the assistance of digital photography and a little tweaking here and there, I hope they will suffice.

My particular 'style' favoured wild, windy landscapes and seascapes, horses and dogs, until one day I visited a local art supplier's open day, where I met a local wildlife artist known as "The Kingfisher Man."  I signed up for a course he was running on the use of acrylics and learned the techniques and tips that make this medium such a joy to use.  I also enjoyed the fine detail that the properties of acrylics permit because of the ultra-fast drying time of the medium and applied them to painting British wildlife subjects.

I also use watercolours, soft pastels and oils as well as a relatively new medium, Chromacolour. This versatile artists' quality paint can be used to emulate oils, acrylics, watercolour and guache; it has a vibrancy second to none and can bring even the most dreary of paintings back to life when used as a 'highlighter.'

I have always painted purely for pleasure which allows me the luxury of putting a painting to one side if I feel it is not coming along as well as I would like and can then start another.  This is why some of the paintings here are, so far, unfinished.  I rarely throw away a painting and will return to it at a later date when the inspiration takes me. Some of these paintings are 'practice' pictures, some are painted from photographs but many are simply the product of my imagination.

I hope you enjoy them.
